Do you know what your dreams ARE?
Do you know what your dreams are?

A question I get asked a lot is "Tara, what if I don't know what my dreams are?" Here are three things to consider if you aren't sure what your dreams are:
1. Your heart knows what it wants.
If you're feeling like your dreams are a mystery, it may be time to check in and see what your heart has to say on the topic. Set an intention to be willing to listen and to allow the voice of your dreams to be heard. Carve out sacred time and space. Ask, and then LISTEN... This is not time to edit or critique or decide what's unrealistic, too big, silly or small for you. Just listen, with your full attention. And like anything else, the more practiced at it you get, the easier it will become.
2. Perhaps your dream isn't "a thing" at all.
Perhaps you've already been to Australia, you have loving partnership, enough money to do as you please, and you don't want to write a book. Yet, despite the external aspects of your life where you want them, you know something is desperately missing. Rather than looking for the next thing, consider: How would you like to FEEL? Yes - dreams can be a feeling. Perhaps you aspire to feel contentment, peace, balance, at ease, joyful. Whatever your answer to how you would like to feel, believe in the possibility, declare it, and you're already on your way...
3. Sometimes we know more than we think we know, you know? :)
Something that makes me giggle (at least on the inside) every time I say it is: "I understand that you really don't know, but if you DID know, what would the answer be?" This question has been known to reveal some surprising wisdom, clarity, and some awe-inspiring dreams!
See? Your dream doesn't have to remain a mystery.

"Most people foul up at the crucial first step because they simply can't see how it's possible to get what they want, so they don't even let themselves want it. You must first decide what you want before your brain can figure out how to get it. Once you lock in your desires your mind and the universe can step in."
Are YOU guilty of not even letting yourself want it for this very reason?
If so, you're certainly not alone. Most people think the way to realize a dream is to figure out all the HOWs first. How you're going to bring it to fruition...How you're going to raise the money...schedule it...form a team...and on and on. All before they commit to the dream itself.
But that's just not how dream realization works.
This is what I know. It is time to let yourself want it - even and especially if you don't know how to bring your dream to fruition.
A past guest of The Dream Party described our enchanting "Footbridge to the Future" (it greets you at the entrance) by saying, "The footbridge to the future' serves as a metaphor for stepping not only into the future but into participating in one's dream for their life!"
I couldn't have said it better.
And here's what SO cool about this: You can walk over that metaphorical footbridge in this right now present moment --- by simply giving yourself permission and making the DECISION to participate fully in your dreams for your life.
No more living for later. The time to start living your dreams is now. Whatever "it" is for you...will you give yourself permission to want it?

Something fascinating to share with you
I wanted to share something REALLY fascinating with you...
Thanks to the social media wonders of Facebook, I've sent out Dream Party® invitations to folks in my network. And did you know that among the RSVP's, there are 52 Maybes?!? That's A LOT of maybes.
The Dream Party's been getting a lot of buzzz...and I get to talk to people everyday who are both fascinated by The Dream Party and YET intimidated to come to The Dream Party. For example, a woman I spoke to last week said that she REALLY wants to come. But she also expressed that she's just not sure she's ready to move to North Carolina. Huh?
She shared that moving to North Carolina has been a dream of hers...but she's just not sure she's ready to do it. I offered that the beauty of The Dream Party is that she DOESN'T have to move to North Carolina to explore the possibility. On Oct 8th, she can come play with, "try on" and, in a non-committed way, experiment with this and any other dreams that live in her heart -- at The Dream Party! :)
I playfully reminded her that the only decision she had to make about whether or not to come to the Dream Party was whether or not to come to the Dream Party. Joy is not frivolous. Despite all sources to the contrary, joy is not a blissful state of ignorance experienced only by the irresponsible. It is not a fleeting luxury of childhood, or the 20's. It is not privately owned by the Pollyannas, nor is it a prize awarded by the stuff-acquiring puppeteers club. Oh no, joy is not frivolous at all.
In Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert writes:
"I keep remembering one of my Guru's teaching about happiness. She says that people universally tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will maybe descend upon you like fine weather if you're fortunate enough. But that's not how happiness works. Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it, you must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it."

Article: Happiness is a Consequence

Joy is not frivolous. Despite all sources to the contrary, joy is not a blissful state of ignorance experienced only by the irresponsible. It is not a fleeting luxury of childhood, or the 20's. It is not privately owned by the Pollyannas, nor is it a prize awarded by the stuff-acquiring puppeteers club. Oh no, joy is not frivolous at all.
In Eat, Pray, Love, Elizabeth Gilbert writes:
"I keep remembering one of my Guru's teaching about happiness. She says that people universally tend to think that happiness is a stroke of luck, something that will maybe descend upon you like fine weather if you're fortunate enough. But that's not how happiness works. Happiness is the consequence of personal effort. You fight for it, strive for it, insist upon it, and sometimes even travel around the world looking for it. You have to participate relentlessly in the manifestations of your own blessings. And once you have achieved a state of happiness, you must never become lax about maintaining it, you must make a mighty effort to keep swimming upward into that happiness forever, to stay afloat on top of it."

I'm thinking you might be thinking this...
I've been thinking about you.
I want to talk to you about something really important.
I have a sense that you have a misconception about me - and that you may also have a misconception about yourself. What I'm sensing is that you might believe that in order to actualize your dreams, that you first have to be crystal clear about what your dreams are.
In other words...Maybe you believe that to work with me you have to have all the specifics, the right dates on the calendar, all the colors and materials, everything in place, and be prepared to share your dream in one tight-concise-exciting-little-sentence.
And, I don't know about you...but if someone told me that if I didn't have all the specifics clear...or that what I want for myself and my life wasn't worthy, valid, or ready enough to be pursued...or that I couldn't actually step into creating my dream life just yet...I would feel like I was somehow falling behind, or like I really didn't have it together.
So, I find myself wondering and guessing that this may be something you're feeling.
Trust me, I know what it means to feel like I don't have it together and to wonder if I am just meant to live day-to-day feeling stuck in the same-old-same-old, day after day after day, after day...
